Rehabilitation and Neural Engineering Laboratory

Alex Hauschild

  • Advisor: Robert Gaunt

Alex is a senior neuroscience major at the University of Pittsburgh, currently planning on attending medical school following graduation. Alex has been working in the Rehabilitaion and Neural Engineering Lab since the beginning of 2018, working on the brain-computer interface project to understand tactile processing in the brain.

Research Interest Summary

Understanding the circuitry of tactile processing in humans

Research Interests

Alex's current work focuses on finding correlations in sensory cortex between the peak-valley times of action potential units and the organization of where these present.  These times are known to be predictive of cell specific cell types, so it is Alex is hopeful that he will be able to use these in addition to other collected metrics to help piece together a pseudo-circuitry of the implanted region.
